About 9 months ago I joined Beautycounter as a consultant – I bought the products because they were safer, but I moved to a consultant role because of the way this company lives out its mission to get safer products into the hands of everyone.

A few days ago the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Health voted on a bill to update our cosmetic safety laws, which have essentially been untouched for 82 years!

What many folks have thought was a regulated industry in America, is not. During a hearing in December the founder of Beautycounter testified alongside FDA leaders to illuminate the lack of regulatory power the FDA currently holds.

And I’m not just talking about recalling a product that’s harmful the way they can with lettuce. I’m talking about their inability to restrict harmful chemicals that are known to have adverse effects from being included in skincare and cosmetic products.
